Usually, to give photorealistic maps a natural look only large textures are needed. Problem - the system easily reaches its limits. We needed to find another solution.

The solution wasn’t in reducing colours or improved tiling because this is futile on large surfaces. We worked with nature and studied mother earth over some time and found some mutualities on photos we took for us and saved as part textures. After that, we wrote a program which multiplies our special textures on photorealistic textures.
 
The result is amazing!
 
Another highlight is our additive texture blending. With this we are able to give our textures a final touch of realism. We use this for graffiti art. Graffitis are sprayed colours making a surface visible. We created the same effect while adding the contours and the colours.
